The approval of the new macro-financial assistance program of the European Union for Ukraine will depend on accelerating the reforms in the country.

"It is important that the EU stays with Ukraine and this support continues. Of course, the support is conditional also on the reform agenda in Ukraine, so we will be able to engage with Ukraine and also facilitate reform delivery in Ukraine," Vice President of the European Commission Valdis Dombrovskis wrote on Facebook.

The allocation of the next credit tranche was suspended until the Verkhovna Rada adopts the required bills on the abolition of roundwood export ban, as well as the support of IDPs. In 2016 Ukraine did not receive any credit tranches from the EU.

According to the European Commission, since 2014 Ukraine has received a total of EUR 2.61 billion of macro-financial assistance, including EUR 1.61 billion in 2014-2015 and EUR 1.2 billion under the current program in 2015-2017.
