Ukraine seeks to wean itself off Russian gas (Video)
Ukrainian state oil and gas company Naftogaz Ukrainy has said it will concentrate on boosting imports of gas from the EU, as Ukraine’s gas reserves are already only half full.
Slovakia, Poland and Hungary are to cooperate in providing reverse flows gas to Ukraine, according to the Presidential Press Service.
Naftogaz Ukrainy head Andriy Kobolev said the interim gas deal with Russia signed last month is just an insurance measure for cold winter. Increasing the capacity of reverse flow gas routes from the EU is a way to end all purchases of gas from Russia.
