President of the European Parliament Antonio Tajani has signed a decision to grant Ukraine a EUR 1 billion macrofinancial assistance, according to Ukraine's Ambassador in Belgium, Representative in the European Union, Mykola Tochytskyi.

"Decision of the EP and the Council providing the Macro-financial assistance to Ukraine amounting 1bn EUR has been signed today by President Tajani and Austrian Presidency on the  eve  of 20th UA-EU Summit. Thanks a lot for the support to all friends of Ukraine in the EU!" Tochytskyi tweeted.

As UNIAN reported earlier, on June 2, the EU Council approved the decision to provide Ukraine with a fourth macrofinancial assiatance package totaling EUR 1 billion. On June 13, the European Parliament endorsed the corresponding decision of the European Commission.

As reported earlier, on June 13, during the debate in the European Parliament, European Commission Vice-President Valdis Dombrovskis announced a number of requirements to Ukraine regarding the provision of new macro-financial assistance.
