Ukraine's output of manganese ferroalloy fell 11.9% year on year and 7.5% from June to 74,950 mt in July, Ukrainian ferroalloy producers association UkrFA said Tuesday.

In July Ukraine produced 65,400 mt of silicomanganese, down from 66,700 mt in July 2017. Output of ferromanganese dropped to 3,700 mt from 11,000 mt and production of ferrosilicon fell to 5,200 mt from 6,800 mt, according to S&P Global Platts.

Ukraine also produced 600 mt of metallic manganese, unchanged on the year.

In January-July production of ferroalloy increased 3.2% year on year to 607,100 mt, the association said.

Ukraine produced 513,400 mt of silicomanganese, up from 459,200 mt a year ago. Production of ferromanganese dropped to 43,000 mt from 69,800 mt, output of ferrosilicon decreased to 46,300 mt from 54,200 mt and output of metallic manganese fell to 4,500 mt from 4,900 mt in January-July 2017.

Ukraine's biggest ferroalloy smelter, Nikopol Ferroalloy Plant, produced 463,600 mt of manganese ferroalloys in January-July, up 7.3% on the year.

The company's output of silicomanganese increased by 14.6% to 442,700 mt, but production of ferromanganese dropped by 54.7% to 20,100 mt.

At the Zaporizhia Ferroalloy Plant, the only other producer of manganese ferroalloy, output fell 7.9% year on year to 143,500 mt in January-July.

ZFP produced 70,600 mt of silicomanganese, down from 73,100 mt a year earlier. Output of ferrosilicon decreased to 46,300 mt from 54,200 mt, and production of ferromanganese fell to 22,100 mt from 23,800 mt.

ZFP also produced 4,500 mt of metallic manganese in January-July, down from 4,900 mt a year earlier.

In 2017, Ukraine's ferroalloy output fell 0.2% from 2016 to 1.026 million mt.
