Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko says the European Commission has made a decision to allocate EUR 500 million in the first tranche of the fourth program of macro-financial assistance to Ukraine.

"Sincerely grateful to the European Commission for positive decision to disburse to Ukraine first tranche of the 4th EU Macro-financial assistance program in the amount of EUR 500 Mln," he wrote on Facebook on November 30.

Poroshenko says he highly appreciates the personal support of the decision by President of the European Commission Jean-Claude Juncker and Vice-President of the European Commission Valdis Dombrovskis.

According to the head of state, the relevant agreement was reached during the European People's Party 2018 Congress held in Helsinki.

"Very important signal of the unwavering assistance of the European Union against the recent challenges from the Russian aggressor," Poroshenko added.
