Despite a statement by Gazprom's CEO about the launch of gas shipments to the anti-terrorist operation (ATO) zone in Donbas on February 19, NJSC Naftogaz of Ukraine has no information of the fact, Naftogaz CEO Andriy Kobolev says.

Naftogaz will not pay the invoice Russia's OAO Gazprom issued for natural gas supplies to the ATO zone, which started, according to Gazprom CEO Alexei Miller, on February 19.

The refusal to pay the Russian gas monopolist's bill was announced by Naftogaz CEO Andriy Kobolev at a press conference in Kyiv, an UNIAN correspondent reported.

"Naftogaz will not pay this bill," he said.

Under the current contract, routes for Russian gas shipments to Ukraine are regulated by applications placed by Ukrainian gas transmission system operator Ukrtransgaz only, according to Kobolev.

"The routes of gas supplies to Ukraine are regulated by separate applications placed by Ukrtransgaz, and no one else has the right under the contract to send applications for volumes and directions of supplies," Naftogaz's head said.

Despite Miller's statement about the launch of gas shipments to the ATO zone as of February 19, Naftogaz isn't aware of the fact, as representatives of the Ukrainian company haven't had access to the gas metering stations located in the zone for long time already.
