Ukraine has IMF’s full support in restructuring debts, Lagarde tells Poroshenko
IMF Director Christine Lagarde pledged full support for Ukraine in restructuring its large foreign debts, including those to the fund, in a telephone call on Thursday with Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko.
According to the presidential press service, Lagarde noted the personal role of the Ukrainian president and his team play in reforming the country, and pledged full support for Ukraine in restructuring its debts.
Poroshenko informed Lagarde about the pace of economic and social reform in Ukraine, adding that the measures are aimed at ensuring transparency and the stabilization of Ukraine’s economy.
"This is the only chance for us to build a competitive and strong Ukraine," the president told Lagarde.
