Russia does not believe in compromise on EU-Ukraine Association

The government of the Russian Federation has once again said that the probability of achieving a compromise on association between Ukraine and the European Union by the end of 2015 is low, and from January 1 Russia will apply measures to protect its economic interests.

"So far, neither in form nor in content have we received acceptable proposals to address our concerns," Minister of Economic Development of the Russian Federation Alexei Ulyukayev said at a meeting with the Minister of Economy of the Slovak Republic Vasil Hudak, according to an UNIAN correspondent.

Ulyukayev stressed that the probability of achieving a compromise on association between Ukraine and the European Union by the end of 2015 was low.

According to Ulyukayev, when drafting their positions, the Russian negotiators have always proceeded from the need to maintain trade and economic cooperation for trade development in the region as a means of achieving inclusive economic growth. Thus, the negotiations of the EU-Ukraine-Russia are conducted in the field of technical regulations, sanitary and phytosanitary measures, customs administration, tariff regulation, as well as in the field of energy and the protection of Russian investments.
