Vehicle output in Ukraine shrinks by 57% in July

Production of motor vehicles in Ukraine shrank by 57% in July 2018 year-over-year (y-o-y), to 221 units, while it fell by 67% from June 2018.

Such a negative trend was due to a sharp decline in semi-knocked-down [SKD] assembly at Eurocar's plant, the only enterprise operating in the country's automobile industry segment this year, according to the Ukrautoprom Association.

In July, only 150 vehicles were manufactured at Eurocar, which was 50% down y-o-y and almost 75% down from June 2018.

Furthermore, a mere five trucks were produced in July, which was 90% down y-o-y, it said.

As Ukrautoprom claims, truck manufacturer AutoKrAZ, for unexplained reasons, has not provided statistics on truck output since August 2016.

Ukraine produced 66 buses in July 2018, which was eight vehicles up y-o-y and 11 units down from June 2018.

A total of 4,074 vehicles have been produced in Ukraine since January 1, 2018, which was 1.4% down y-o-y.

As UNIAN reported earlier, the production of vehicles in Ukraine soared by 63.1% in 2017 from 2016, to 8,586 vehicles, according to Ukrautoprom.

The country's output of vehicles in 2016 fell by 36% against 2015, to 5,200 units, it said.
