Ukraine sees decline in industrial production first time since year's start

The statistical report does not include data from the Russian-occupied areas in Ukraine

Ukraine saw a decline in industrial production for the first time since the beginning of the year: industrial production in August 2018 declined by 0.5% year-over-year without the calendar effect after a 2.9% increase in July 2018 from July 2017.

If calculated with calendar adjustment, industrial production in August 2018 also declined by 0.5% year-over-year after a 2.3% increase in July 2018, the State Statistics Service of Ukraine has said.

Industrial output in August 2018 from July 2018 fell by 0.5% without the calendar effect and by 0.7% with calendar adjustment.

 Before August, the decline in industrial production in Ukraine in annual terms was recorded in December 2017 (minus 0.5% without the calendar effect), after which the indicator showed growth for seven consecutive months.

The steepest decline in annual terms was recorded in the production of computers, electronic and optical commodities (30%), production of coke and fuel (7.6%), electrical equipment (7.3%).

The largest growth in annual terms was recorded in the chemical industry (10.3%), the manufacture of motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers (10.2%), crude oil and natural gas production (7.3%).

The statistical report does not include data from the Russian-occupied areas in Ukraine, namely the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, the city of Sevastopol, and certain districts in Donetsk and Luhansk regions.
