French Decathlon to open first store in Ukraine in Q1 2019

The store will be located near Kyiv's Pochayna subway station.

French-based Decathlon, the world's largest sporting goods retailer, will open its first store in Ukraine in the first quarter of 2019 (Q1).

"UkraineInvest welcomes another global brand in Ukraine! French company Decathlon will open its first store in Ukraine in the first quarter of 2019. The world's leading sporting goods retailer, Decathlon is present in 45 countries with over 1,400 stores," the press service of UkraineInvest (Ukraine Investment Promotion Office) wrote on Facebook on September 25.

The first store will be located near Kyiv's Pochayna subway station. It will sell more than 40,000 items.

"Decathlon Ukraine is committed to the highest standards of product quality. Some of the products sold in Decathlon stores are produced in Ukraine, including high-quality trekking shoes, hockey sticks, skis and football gloves. And the company plans to expand production in Ukraine," the report said.

As UNIAN reported earlier, one of Europe's largest retail clothing chains, the Swedish company H&M, entered the Ukrainian market in August 2018.

Another Swedish-founded furniture giant IKEA Group headquartered in Delft (the Netherlands) is planning to enter the Ukrainian market in 2019.
