Thirty-seven sugar factories operate across the country.
Ukrainian sugar factories since the beginning of the sugar refining season, which started on August 30 with the launch of the Tomashpolsky sugar factory, produced 569,400 tonnes of sugar.
"As of October 16, some 569,400 tonnes of sugar was produced and 4.5 million tonnes of sugar beet was processed," reads the statement by the National Association of Sugar Producers of Ukraine (NASU) "Ukrtsukor."

According to the report, 37 sugar factories are now operating in Ukraine of the projected 42.
As UNIAN reported earlier, sugar output in the current marketing year (MY, September 2018 - August 2019) is expected to be at almost 2 million tonnes, despite a reduction in the number of operating plants.
Ukraine this season increased sugar production by 6.5% to 2.14 million tonnes.
