Economic growth in Ukraine slows to 2.8% in Q3

Ukraine's GDP in annual terms has been growing for an eleventh quarter in a row.

The growth of real gross domestic product (GDP) of Ukraine in the third quarter of 2018 year-over-year (y-o-y) was 2.8%, slowing from 3.8% in the previous quarter earlier.

The growth compared to the previous quarter, taking into account the seasonal factor, was 0.4%, the State Statistics Service of Ukraine said.

Ukraine's GDP in annual terms has been growing for an eleventh quarter in a row, but it slowed for the first time after accelerating for two quarters in a row.

Earlier, the National Bank published its estimates, according to which Ukraine's GDP growth in the third quarter of 2018 was expected to slow to 3.1% in annual terms.

As UNIAN reported, the State Statistics Service revised upwards the forecast for the growth of real gross domestic product of Ukraine in the second quarter of 2018 in annual terms to 3.8% from 3.6%. The National Bank forecasts 3.4% growth of GDP in Ukraine in 2018 amid 10.1% inflation, the government expects a 3.2% increase in GDP amid 9.9% inflation.

The International Monetary Fund expects Ukraine's economy to grow by 3.5% this year amid 9% inflation, while the World Bank forecasts a 3.5% increase in GDP amid 10% inflation.
