The national agency for the recovery of assets derived from corruption and other crimes [Asset Recovery and Management Agency (ARMA)], does not intend to put up for sale the Mezhyhirya government residence seized from the disgraced ex-president Viktor Yanukovych.

"The property has already been completely transferred to ARMA. But this was done in stages, as procedural curators changed, and there were several criminal cases launched. We needed all the property to be consolidated into one bulk so that we could begin management operations. Now we can start bidding procedures. I'm sure this will happen this year," head of ARMA, Anton Yanchuk, told journalists on November 15, according to an UNIAN correspondent.

According to him, the Mezhyhirya residence will not be put up for sale.

"By default, the [property] is transferred to the management under the contract. If it's impossible and inefficient, it will be put up for sale. Before a preliminary feasibility study is done, I see no reason to conclude that it's economically unprofitable to manage this property. Therefore, the most likely priority option is the transfer [of property] to contracted management, not its sale," he added.

As UNIAN reported earlier, in early July 2018, Kyiv's Pechersky District Court transferred to the management by the Asset Recovery and Management Agency the Mezhyhirya government residence in Kyiv region's Vyshgorod district, where Yanukovych lived from 2010 to 2014.

The Pechersky District Court ruled to seize the property of the Mezhyhirya mansion on July 13, 2015 (the decision was confirmed by Kyiv's Economic Court of Appeals on August 10, 2015).

The Economic Court of Appeals ruled on August 1 to invalidate the contracts under which the Mezhyhirya government residence was withdrawn from state ownership in 2007.
